Beautiful abstract still life vase and flowers.

I painted the background of this artworks months, maybe even a year ago and it just sat there on my shelf not going anywhere.

I spent a few late nights doing an art course with Nicholas Wilton at Art2Life and felt totally inspired. I am a self taught artist. There were things I was already doing in my art but I had quite a few ah-ha moments where things were things explained so succinctly. There were fabulous stories of people spending years in art school and learning more in Nicholas's class. Artists in the course were grabbing things off their walls and reworking them with great success.

I couldn't wait to get stuck into something. I looked on my shelf and found this one.

I had already penciled in a table and vase so went with it using my newly learnt knowledge.

I worked and reworked it a few times. One side of the wall started off grey, then pale blue, then I used a printed washi tape.

The blue flowers started off white, then purple, light blue, then dark blue.

Before now I don't think I would have done that, I would have left it with my first choice.

I love that I was able to keep so much of the original colours for the table and vase.

Look through the in situ and progress photos. It is a stunning focal piece.

Made with acrylics, washi tape, tombow markers, uniball pen on paper.
