When I painted this, I was surrounded by inspirational conversations, walks in nature and Laura Horn's podcasts. In one particular episode, Hellen Hallows talked about sliding into your practice from the side if you are feeling stuck.
That is what I did.
I lit a candle, thanked my artistic female ancestors for inspiring me to be creative and got painting.
I had already started the base of it a week prior, painting in the garden with found objects. All I could see afterwards was a pot and flowers.
When I picked up the brushes again, everything just fell into place, I put my headphones on and sung loudly like no one was listening for 3 hours.
I picked two base colours easily and marked out the "flowers".
I painted and drew with pastel pencils, poscas, uniball pen and a silver pencil.
There are lots of layers and fine details.
I called it "Spring is almost here". It offers a sense of hope.
What/who is inspiring you at the moment?
Us this painting to acknowledge what you are grateful for. What do you have in your life that you can be thankful for? Who do you have in your life to be thankful for? What can you thank yourself for?
It is painted on canvas board and measures 35.7x45.9cm
