My friend brought over a beautiful birds, bees and butterflies sticker book. I flicked through and the spoonbill caught my eye so I had a go at drawing it. I wanted to bling it up a bit after painting it, so used silver gel pens to highlight the feathers.
 
I had used some of the paint left over from teaching a kids class the day before and started a background. I continued working layers on it with acrylics, stencils and posca pens.
 
I placed the spoonbill on top then thought of a pond and moon or sun. I pulled out some of my gelli printed paper, cut them into the shapes I wanted then glued them all down. Lastly, I  dipped a flowering gumnut in white paint to add patterns in the water and around the sun
 
The high gloss varnish gives a liquid effect of water the spoonbill is about to step into.
