Scales-Petals-Love is a calming artwork. The girl on the snake is chilling out, quietly taking things in. 
She is making time for herself. 
She is present. 
She sees beauty all around.
She feeds her inner child.
She is curious.
She loves and is loved.

I painted this when I had a week off my day job. I taped 3 pages to the table so I could work on them at the same time.
 
I used foam rollers, pallet knives, a bottle brush, stencils and paint brushes to paint a hot mess of chaos for the background.
 
When it was at the ugly stage with what I thought was enough paint, I turned it around and around until something jumped out at me. 
 
I could see a girl sitting on a snake and wavy orange petals. It kind of reminded me of the person fishing off the moon at the beginning of kid's movies. Dreamworks?
 
I grabbed my colour wheel to work out the best background colour and mixed some purples until I got 3 shades I loved and painted around the shapes I wanted to keep.
I used a white posca to outline the shapes I wanted. 
I used different shades of orange to define the flowers. The fluoro orange didn't come out in the scanned photo but you can see it in the close ups. It is so beautiful.
Then lastly used a posca and uni-ball signo pens to add the scales and fine details.
 
This painting is A3 sized.
