Thetis is a Greek goddess of the sea and the leader of the fifty Nereides. She possessed the gift of prophesy and the power to change her shape at will.
I am a big believer in setting intentions and manifesting the things you want in life, whether they be a physical thing, a feeling, or experience. I like the idea of changing your shape at will. We are all on a path of learning and change, and this is exactly what we need to do to move forward in life, ask for it and be open to receiving.
I dreamt of a sea urchin and the image stayed with me for days. Usually I paint unintentionally, but this was one of those times when I couldn't get the image out of my head and had to get it out on paper. I started to draw her in my sketchbook with a sea urchin eye, and soon realised that I wanted her to be bigger and bolder and have wool jellyfish tentacles flowing off the page so she moved to a canvas. I used beautiful paper to collage the background. One of the pieces of paper I tore up was an eye shape, so I used it. The eye shape is actually a sliver of wood imprinted into the paper. I also used acrylics, tombow markers, metallic paint, posca pens and graphite.
She measures 70cm h x 30cm w x1cm d. This is the canvas and wool hanging.
If you are interested in intention setting but aren't quite sure what it is, have a read of my blog https://www.creativeabyss.net/post/how-to-manifest-your-desires. Make sure you tell me how you go!
