I love looking back at the different stages of my life - teenagehood being rebellious and feeling like I was the black sheep, 20s wanting to impress everyone and compete, partying and becoming a mum, 30s really starting to understand myself, 40s knowing who I am and what I want, not taking shit from anyone, working at my dreams.
I embrace getting older and the wisdom it brings.
I embrace my greys and my wrinkles.
I am still getting used to the idea of perimenopause and the changes in my body.
I am excited for the next stages of my life.
I honor the feminine.
Crone was painted over a few beautiful sunny winter days.
I used gouache, pencils, Conte pastel pencils and poscas on black canvas.
She is the biggest painting I have done and measures 46x61x3.5cm.
I had the idea of black with hot pink and purple flowers. I had a muck around first then got straight to it.
I painted her face with so many tones, the photos don't do her justice.
Her hair has silver pencil marks through it and shimmers in the light.
I then had the idea of kind of windows behind her to so masked out and painted some green lines. The 3 windows being the levels of Maiden, Mother , Crone.
I love how the green paint has a crackled effect.
If you are on a similar journey or are intrigued, then this painting is for you.
